Fellow children of man. I write this to you, in this magnificent time, this beginning of a new Glorious Age, for I know the unease and fear that lurk inside the hearts of many of you. The time of Prophecy have finally come upon us, so close I can almost hear the flickering of flames and the beats of heavy drums that have echoed throughout the darkness of our world for entire eras. The clockwork of our existence have ticked to empty beats, and the grind of its metal have roared where there have been none to hear it... until now. It has kindled fires in the hearts of many, but been extinguished in the hearts of many more... until now. And mankind have waited - until we forgot what it was we were waiting for.

... until now.

For the small kindles that have been set ablaze have come from a source, a source that roar with the flames of our very creation. It have always burned, always flickered and always whispered silently to those with the courage to listen. For tomorrow, on what the unfaithful call the 'doomsday', us faithful few shall await the return of the Eternal Fire Beast Himself! Destruction shall be brought upon Hip Hop and Rap, and righteous death shall befall unto Justin Beiber! For, indeed, the Mayans were right. An entire age is approaching its closure. And the dawn of a new one will rise and cast new light. The second age of HEAVY METAL is about to begin!

We await the return and revival of our God, the mighty Ormagöden! For we shall bask in the light of His fires, and our voices shall sing together with His mighty roars.. His many fists shall pound the very Earth itself into submission, and our hearts shall pound with them in a symphony of unison, togetherness and burning passion!

And for that reason, fellow children of man... I write this to you. For I know many of you have been told of the dire situation that others believe awaits us at sunrise. I know of your doubt. And of your fears. That some of you will write this message of as blasphemous, as a silly prank offered in the worst of times. You are my sisters and my brothers. Pathwalkers from all roads of life, fellow descendants of the ancient Titan toenail. I do not wish to see any of you succumb to the fear of the unknown, and together, we shall see the sun rise the day after tomorrow.
But I do not offer you a bad joke just before the dawn of destruction... I offer you a reminder to keep your faiths in all that is Trüe, and all that is Brütal.

... I offer you merely one thing. I offer you a reminder of hope.

----------------------------------------------------

.... Aaaaaaaand, now that am finished writing awesome but silly text-based tributes for the most Awesome of Videogame Creations(I had to do it before I died, really!), there shall be a feature in the honor of what might as well be our last day on Earth. As you all know, deviantArt is bursting to the seams with incredibly talented artists, many of which have not found the recognition or the following that they by all rights deserve. I have chosen to feature a few under-appreciated pieces of concentrated awesome in the following blog.

I should probably begin by explaining my absence to those of you who have been affected by it.

It was a matter of summer jobs, actually. Long ago, I was offered a job at a farm not far from where I live, and jumped to the offer. This job, however, disappeared by the time that summer came around. It was a troublesome thing for me as I needed the salary quite badly for several reasons - mainly for rent reasons. I can pay for my dorm room with commission money, but I won't be able to buy an apartment with it when I have to move out once this school year is over. I was offered another job, at another farm, through the people I was supposed to work with, and as the salary was similar, I took the offer.

However, that farm lacked a stable internet connection. And while I was occasionally able to check my e-mails and look at my deviant messages, I was not able to reply to them or post new ones, due to some muck-up with that computers flash plugins. I apologize for my un-announced absence, but it really wasn't a choice for me. I'm quite glad I got a job at all, and I have to say that it was a pretty good summer. I am totally in love with Shropshire sheep now, by the way. They look like a mix between Moomin and a bison <3

To those of you who have entered my contest, I have not forgotten about your entries, hover I only just got home [strike]and I WILL SLEEP NOW. FOR CHRISTS SAKE, I NEED SLEEP NAO :stare:.[/strike] I apologize for not contacting you about this matter on beforehand, but I wasn't aware that I wasn't going to be able to post for the entire summer. I've canceled the contest due to a lack of the necessary five entries, which means that the official prizes will be gone. I WILL however be offering consolation prizes, and I'll be sending PM's to you shortly. If you have entered the contest and not received a PM by next weekend, please contact me.

Note that I'm still unable to get online during the weekday, unfortunately, due to me living in a dorm with crappy internet... *le sigh*

And then, on a final note: I'M BACK! WOOHOO! :iconwoohooplz:

Contest time!

4 min read
That's right! It's contest time everyone! Whether you want to join for the fun of the challenge, or are just in it for the prize pot, is of course up to you - but don't forget to check this journal for a slightly different challenge in the character design category!

So what's the plot? What are you going to have to do to enter? Here's what...

           The contest: Ungulate craze!

That's right. Ungulates. This contest is an illustration challenge where you will have to design a creature that is, in some way, an ungulate animal. Don't know what an ungulate is? Check the wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ungulate

"Ungulates (pronounced /ˈʌŋɡjʊleɪts/) are several groups of mammals, most of which use the tips of their toes, usually hoofed, to sustain their whole body weight while moving. The term means, roughly, "being hoofed" or "hoofed animal"."

This family of animals include deer, cattle, horses, sheep, pigs and elephants, among other species. What you must do in this challenge is to design your own ungulate creature - this is a chimera challenge. A wolfsheep? A seabird cow? A family of dragonboar piglets? Originality is the key! Your creature can be as fantastical as you want it to be, and the only limit is your own imagination.

Rules:
* The illustration of the creature must be fully colored and include a background.
* Again, originality is the key: you may not enter with an old image, character or species - do something new and exciting.
* This is how it will be judged:
40% originality. The design of the animal is in focus of the challenge.
30% technicality and skill. This is how well the image itself is executed. Perspective, anatomy and light-source will be judged here. If you need help with any of these aspects, don't be afraid to show me the image for a critique.
30% mood. This is an illustration challenge! Something is happening in your image! What is it? Tell a story!
* Don't forget the rule, though: it must be visibly ungulate. That means that the species must either be a herbivore or an omnivore, and display at least some of the characteristics of the animal you've based it on.
The deadline, provided enough entries are sent in to cover the prizes, will be July 1. It will however be extended if there are less that five entrants at that point.

Prizes:
I bet you jumped directly to this part before even checking the rest, didn't you? Well, rest assured. There are of course prizes in this contest.

First place: A three-month deviantArt premiumship (or its worth in points, aka 636 :points:) + one digital picture from me featuring one or two fully colored characters with a background.
Second place: 318 :points: + a fully shaded image of one character with no background.
Third place: 212 :points: + a flat color image of one of your characters.

Point commissions:
In order to raise the points needed for the prizes, I now accept design commissions for dA points. These designs can be done by template or freehand. A freehand design of any species will be chibi-fied, and go for 60 points each. A template design (such as this one: Draw adoptables.[Closed] by EldingaGunman ) will go for 60 points for a set of three, or 25 points each. Though I currently only have a wolf template, I will be happy to fill in a design on another artists free templates, assuming they allow this.

Rules of commissioning:
*No point commissions. Sorry, but I can't feed myself with points.
*Please send me a note with the required information. This note should include what you want me to draw, how many images of it and how detailed these images should be (see price list above). Unfortunately my computer is a little weird and won't always let me view my dA messages. There is a chance that simple comments might go undetected.
*These prices are for non-commercial use. Please not me for more details on this.
*I will ask for half payment up front. This is both to eliminate unserious commissions before I spend hours and hours on them, and also to make sure that the commissioner understands the final price.
*Payment is available through Paypal.

I've finally assembled my list of achievements to complete throughout the year as part of my New Years resolution. From me to you, sixty things which I am to aim towards during this year! Kind of like that book '100 things to do before you die', only smaller scale. It is by no means a list that is meant to be completed, but I will aim for at least 35/60 of the tasks completed. This is a incomplete list made for fun, sort of like a trial run for the next New years eve. Therefore, I'm still open to any suggestions that will not endanger my life and health (that much), earn me a lawsuit, or cost me my entire life savings(and I don't have a lot of savings currently I'm afraid, so, heh.)

That said, here we go:

1. Do 100 toe pushups in a row [  ]
2. Pull off a backflipp [  ]
3. Se at least one large Metal band live on stage this summer [  ]
4. Gain the lung power to properly sing 'I was raised on rock' or an equally difficult song and get a positive comment on Youtube [  ]
5. Write a song and record it [  ]
6. Make at least one detailed study of a dissected animal body part [  ]
7. Study the skulls of at least five different animal species [  ]
8. Join an OCT and go for it [  ]
9. Design a tattoo and get it in henna [  ]
10. Design a tattoo that someone else gets/in henna [  ]
11. Play 'Stairway to Heaven' on guitar and learn it by heart [  ]
12. Earn at least 100$ USD through art(commission ect.) [  ]
13. Take a spontaneous, last minute vacation to somewhere out of country [  ]
14. Visit a LARP/historical fair [  ]
15. Make leather out of raw hide and animal brains [  ]
16. Catch a fish and eat it [  ]
17. Sing karaoke (damn you, stage fright! :shakesfish: ) [  ]
18. Spend a week alone in the woods with minimum equipment (and possibly a deer carcass..) [  ]
19. Go sailing [  ]
20. Try blacksmithing at least once [  ]
21. Finish the yearly school race in less than 30 minutes (the record is 20) [  ]
22. Ride a horse bareback [  ]
23. Try archery [  ]
24. Preform as a street musician [  ]
25. Earn at least 50$ as a street musician [  ]
26. Run a mile in less than an hour [  ]
27. Take a yoga class [  ]
28. Wear makeup in public at least once  [  ]
29. Try indoor climbing and scale a 100 meter wall [  ]
30. Climb a mountain [  ]
31. See a marine mammal in the wild [  ]
32. Try fresh, ecological, acorn raised bacon without any additives  [  ]
33. Attend a festival of some kind [  ]
34. Read a book on lyricism and write a poem [  ]
35. Read the bible [  ]
36. Read the qu'ran [  ]
37. Read the poetic Edda and the Havamál [  ]
38. Do woodworking [  ]
39. Make an Amigurumi [  ]
40. Sell something you've crafted [  ]
41. Read a Shakespear play [  ]
42. Pull off a running round roll [  ]
43. Work on a farm for at least 2 weeks and get paid for it in money [  ]
44. Have a lvl 1 Reiki attunement [  ]
45. Spend a full day volunteering for a good cause [  ]
46. Hunt, whole grill and eat a wild animal [  ]
47. Get a palm/tarot/aura reading [  ]
48. Get one piece of art displayed in a gallery in my city [  ]
49. Buy and wear contact lenses [  ]
50. Shave a sheep [  ]
60. Get a drivers license for cars [  ]

Aaaaand there we have it. Pretty safe list, nothing overly suicidal, but it beats my last NYR. Go to the gym more often.. yeah right.
